Sports enthusiast, self-driven, and results to come
His name is Brandon Freed. He was born and raised in Simi Valley, California. Currently, he’s a junior student studying journalism at San Diego State University.
At SDSU, he is part of both KCR College Radio and the Daily Aztec. For KCR, he has a co-host and they run their own sports radio show. Their show runs every Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. and all they discuss are recent sports news. They talk a lot of SDSU sports as well as professional sports.
For the Daily Aztec, he is part of both the sports and media team. For sports, he writes articles and does stand-ups for specific SDSU sports teams. His main beat is water polo. For the media department, he creates packages based on SDSU news. He creates videos using adobe premiere.
Past Experiences
Grossmont College Broadcast Bootcamp
(2019 – 2019)
After completion of his sophomore year, he attended a summer broadcast bootcamp at Grossmont College for one week. At the camp, he got the chance to practice doing stand-ups, read from a teleprompter, write broadcast scripts and create packages. He also got the chance to network and meet professional journalists and broadcasters.
Ice hockey Official
(2016 – Present)
As an ice hockey official, he works with two or three other people on the ice and they communicate with each other, so they are all on the same page. They work together to make sure the game runs smoothly and without as much injury to the players as possible. This job really teaches him how to communicate with people in an effective way, on and off the ice.
